Slimefalls

July 2, 2011. My fourth map, since (what is now named) WhiteClock proved to be a major, mmm, stumbling block? Originally, this was "kqn1", Kitty's Quickmap Number 1. This was inspired by, or prompted by, a mapping site having a mapping contest. The thing was, the maps being entered had no reason to respect FPS or other issues, as the maps were not intended for play, but rather for beauty, ingenuity, etc. To me, that was useless, so I created my own contest, with myself as the only entrant: could I build a map in one day, and have it be playable? So, I got up on a Saturday morning, and rather than take part in a contest I had zero interest in, I began my own contest, with myself. The first version of this map was ready that Saturday night, and was playtested, and it was enjoyed so much, that several suggestions were made for refinement, and it was then played the next day (July 3, 2011) in our Sunday Scrim!!!
Fast forward, and my mapping knowledge and abilities have bettered, and this map sits unplayed, mostly due to the stupid name. It has slime falls (and a mostly harmless waterfall), and i had not ever seen another map with slimefalls, so... Slimefalls. I reconstructed the entire map, using "proper" techniques, rather than simply assembling blocks and "painting" them with textures. New textures in some places, and the addition of the out, up, and around pipes from the waterfall, allowing players to go from basement to trough above. With these refinements and renaming, it is now played much more. Oh! Please take time to leap off the side and be teleported into the embarassment chambers beneath the flag areas. Vincent will appreciate it.
