Yes, the name (Katskills) is a play on words; Kat's Kills, Kat Skills... Inspired by the many movies and books that utilize a training facility of some sort that exists in an isolated area in the mountains.
I had a flash of a facility in the mountains, with a second floor overhanging the first where the facility offers entrances/exits to the outside area(s), and the face of the second story looking out being entirely glass. Or mostly glass. Tall mountins provide the "fencing" to provide privacy, and security measures. Going simple here, and who knows if/when I will actually finish this one. I am retired after all!!!
CTF/CAH spawns are in protected corridors, with three available automatic door exits. Flags are on the second floor, between buildings. Each color/side has two (2) main buildings, labeled 1, 2, 3, and 4. Between the two buildings on either side are connecting hallways, and on the second floor, the CTF flags, in the longer, wider halls. There is an overpass that connects the 2nd floor interconnecting halls, and crosses over the outside area. The overpass is open on each side, providing a defendable flag retrieval route. Teams can also provide outside, center map cover via the crates at either side. Below the map are subterrain passages that provide a route between each side. They are accesible from the outdoor area via angled passageways, inside at the front of the 1st floor interconnecting halls, and finally via a secret passage behind the KittyWumpus logo on one building for each side. Finally, the warning striped vertical beams at the four corners of the nice open pits (that drop into fog that kills you... you are welcome!) are equiped with standard ladders. The other ladders in the map are, as always, my "fast ladders".
Unsure what else there is to do for this one. I had the idea, I built it, hopefully someone likes it.
Edit: Version a4 is up. I redesigned the upper section between the buildings on each side, where the flags are. Turns out the overpass was FAR too easy to use as a flag route, due to it including a fast, narrow passage almost directly from flag to overpass ladder. While this can be controlled via outside, more safely by using the crates out there, I still thought it was too easy. One must go out to the left or right, exposing to enemies in either building now. Additionally, I redesigned the overpass, added a pipe to either side (climbable!), and added a second plat with crates on either side. While I think this might work, I have a bad feeling that in order to "force" use of more of the map, I will need to move the flags to the 1st floor, which would require a redesign of the area between buildings to accomodate this. I already have ideas for that, so maybe I will make that version, and see which is preferred, if any.
